Friday, October 6th was a day to remember. More than 750 of our Lion Grandparents and Special Friends were on hand to celebrate and tour with their Grand Lions.
The morning began with a well-loved tradition: a concert from the Middle School Praise Band that featured hits from the 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. This year, sixth grader Miles Graham surprised the audience by asking his grandfather to join him on stage for an incredible rendition of the song, “Sherry”. Rick Ussery, former TSYS Chairman and CEO and grandfather to seven St. Luke Lions, was the guest speaker. His heartfelt words and encouragement reminded everyone that “once a Grand Lion, you are always a Grand Lion.”
Grandparents and Special Friends also enjoyed entertainment from the St. Luke School Singers, the chance to see their Grand Lions in action via grade level presentations, and tours of classrooms and our new Innovation Station. A special photo booth for our Lions and their guests was the icing on the cake, as they say. For photos of the event and the photo booth, please click here. To see first grade’s video highlighting what this year’s theme (“It’s Who We Are” based on 1 John 2:6) means to them, please watch their video below. (And be sure to check our website often, as we’ll feature other grade levels in the future.)
To all of our Grandparents and Special Friends, thank you for sharing your morning with us. It was truly a GRAND and very SPECIAL day.
