Our Junior Kindergarten through fifth grade students have access to two playgrounds on campus, at which they enjoy recess three or four days each week (depending on grade level). Those students attend PE class on the days they do not visit the playground. Our structured PE program exposes them to a variety of skills and sports at an early age.
Middle School students attend PE all year in the sixth grade, and for one semester during their seventh grade year. In addition, seventh grade students also attend Health class for one semester. Eighth graders have the option to choose PE as an elective for one semester of their final year at SLS. Both the PE and Health classes stress the importance of exercise and nutrition for a lifetime of well-being.
In addition to our PE classes, St. Luke also offers a full interscholastic sports program for students in grades 5-8. Sports offered include cross country, cheerleading, dance, girls and boys basketball, volleyball, golf, tennis, swimming, equestrian, wrestling, girls and boys soccer, baseball and softball. Lower school students have several options for getting involved in athletics as well, through intramural basketball, elementary tennis, basketball and soccer clinics, a wrestling club, and a weekend cheer and dance camp.
