All rising eighth graders are required to read three books:
- Fish in a Tree by Lynda Mullaly,
- How to Read Literature Like a Professor for Kids by Thomas C. Foster,
- and a third book chosen by the student for which he or she previously registered online
Students are required to submit an online assessment upon completion of two of those books, Fish in a Tree and their book of choice. These assessments should be submitted by Monday, August 13th:
All eighth graders will need their own copy of How to Read Literature Like a Professor for Kids for reference throughout the school year. Student copies may be either hard copy or digital.
If you have any questions, please email Ms. Allen (eighth grade Language Arts teacher) at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Summer Math Packet
In preparation for a successful year in middle school math, please complete the problems included in your summer math packet. The objectives in the packet should have been mastered in the grade level you just completed, and they represent skills essential for success at the next grade level. We encourage you to work each problem thoroughly and practice skills where there are gaps in fundamental concepts.
The rising eighth grade math packet will be available in ParentsWeb beginning May 24th. (Go to ParentsWeb | School Information | Resource Documents.) Be sure to complete the packet for the grade level you will be entering in the fall and carefully follow all directions stated in the packet. The summer math review packet must be turned in to your math teacher when you visit campus on Monday, August 13th.
Should you have any questions regarding your math packet, please email Mr. Swinehart (eighth grade Math teacher) at email@example.com.
