It’s a busy time at SLS, from the eighth grade trip to Harvest Party to the start of basketball season and the countdown to Thanksgiving Break. In addition to extracurricular activities and “regular” classroom work, throw in field trips and signature projects, too. Seventh graders took one of their big field trips last week: their annual Pine Mountain Trail hike to Cascade Falls. The weather was perfect, and a great time was had by all. Check out this short video clip – put together by the seventh grade team – to see some of the highlights:
Fourth graders have been hard at work on their signature project: the wax museum that wraps up their study of famous explorers throughout history. They all came dressed as their explorers last Friday, ready to share the stories of their lives. The “museum” was set up in the Ministry Center large dining room, and visitors could tour the “exhibit” to see all of the explorers. Each explorer had a map showing the areas of the world that they explored, and a box with “stop” and “go” buttons – buttons that could be used to hear their stories “in their own words.” We had many family members present, as well as other SLS students. Some of our seventh graders got to go through the museum with their Kindergarten buddies, in a little “Grantham to Grantham” time. Enjoy photos from this event at http://stlukelions.smugmug.com/.
