Karen Boyd, Kindergarten Teacher
Karen Boyd earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. She started her teaching career in Gwinnett County, teaching for 9 years before moving to Columbus in 1995. She then taught at Gentian Elementary, Midland Academy, and Eagle Ridge Academy here in Muscogee County since 1998. She began teaching at St. Luke School in 2018. Karen and her husband, Tommy, are members of First Baptist Church of Columbus where they enjoy teaching the “Young Professionals” Sunday School Class. Karen and Tommy have three amazing children and a dog named Bailey. Karen loves spending time with family and friends, listening to podcasts, doing “crafty things”, baking, and walking/running.
Kim Browning, Kindergarten Teacher
Kim Browning received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from DePauw University and has enjoyed teaching kindergarten since 1995. She joined the SLS staff in 1998. Before moving to Columbus, Ms. Browning taught at a Methodist school in Columbia, South Carolina and worked as a substitute teacher in Louisville, Kentucky. Ms. Browning loves spending time with her three children and her beagle. .
Brandy Burditt, Kindergarten Teacher
Brandy Burditt received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Troy State University in Phenix City. She taught Kindergarten at Georgetown Elementary prior to becoming a stay at home mom. She has worked at St. Luke Preschool as a teacher for 2-3 year old children. She began teaching kindergarten at St. Luke School in 2012. She is happily married to her husband Jason and has a daughter Natalie who attended St. Luke School. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and spending time with her family. .
Kelley Ellington, Kindergarten Teacher
Kelley Ellington earned her undergraduate degree in social work from the University of Georgia. She spent several years working for the Muscogee County School District, before obtaining her Masters in Education. She then went on to teach both second and third grades at River Road Elementary School. Mrs. Ellington is a member of St. Luke Church, where she serves on the Children’s Council and has enjoyed teaching children’s Sunday School classes since 2006. She has been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels since 2005. During her free time, Mrs. Ellington enjoys spending time at the beach and in the mountains with her family.
Jamie Farmer, Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant
Jamie Farmer grew up in Columbus and is a graduate of Auburn University. She has three beautiful daughters, and enjoys traveling with her husband and spending time with family and friends. Mrs. Farmer loves St. Luke School and is very excited to be on staff!

Mary Johnson, Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant
Mary Johnson joined our staff as a Teaching Assistant in 2020. She served in the St. Luke Church preschool prior to joining us. Mary has been a long time parent at St. Luke School where she has given her time as a yoga instructor and in many other parent volunteer roles. Mary’s son has been a “lifer” at St. Luke School and we welcomed her daughter as she began kindergarten. We are thankful to have her serving in our Kindergarten. .
Charlene Pearson, Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant
Charlene Pearson is a native of Newnan, Georgia. She attended LaGrange College and moved to Columbus to start a career in banking. After spending many years in the banking industry, she decided to make a career change and move into education. Mrs. Pearson lends tremendous support to St. Luke School through her work in the classroom. She enjoys running, cooking and being involved with her own children and their athletic endeavors. .
Holly Walker, Kindergarten Teacher’s Assistant
Holly Walker is a native of Columbus, GA, and is pleased to be raising her family in this beautiful river town. She attended Columbus State University and had a 16-year career with Columbus Bank and Trust Company. Her two boys, Chipper and Ward, started at St. Luke when they were born. She joined the staff of St. Luke in 2012 as a Preschool teacher, and now works full-time at the school. Mrs. Walker, her husband Gusty, and their two boys are active members of Wynnton United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her boys play baseball, photography, reading, family trips to the beach and Auburn football.
