
St. Luke School Announces New Head of School
Richard Green, Current Aaron Cohn Middle School Principal, Selected After Nationwide Search

Columbus, GA: St. Luke School announced today that School Trustees have appointed Richard Green as the next Head of St. Luke School. Richard’s selection came at the conclusion of a comprehensive, nationwide search led by St. Luke School and church stakeholders. Richard currently serves as the principal of Aaron Cohn Middle School located in Midland, GA. He will succeed William D. “Bill” Shelnutt beginning July 1, 2020.
When asked about the appointment, Senior Pastor, Reverend Robert Beckum had this to say:

His dedication to students, faculty and families, administrative experience, energy, integrity and passion for Christian education is evident. Richard’s established track record as an administrator and reputation in our community are second to none. I am confident that Richard, along with our talented and dedicated faculty and staff team, will continue to solidify and expand the powerful ministry of St. Luke School.”
Richard Green is currently the Principal of Aaron Cohn Middle School, a 6-8 grade public school with 575 students in Midland, GA. Richard was selected to open Aaron Cohn and has served as the school’s first and only principal since its inception in 2013. Under Richard’s leadership, Aaron Cohn has been a leader in its students’ academic growth, ranking in the 99th percentile for similarly situated schools in Georgia. Prior to serving as the Principal of Aaron Cohn, Richard served as an administrator for nine years and as a Special Education Teacher for 12 years. Richard obtained his Specialist in Educational Leadership from Albany State University, his Masters in Physical Education from Troy State University, and his Bachelor of Science in Special Education from Columbus College (now Columbus State University). Richard and his wife Kimberly are the proud parents of three children.
